Dropped the idea for municipalities to collect 2% of income tax

Chairman of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov announced that municipalities dropped the proposal to collect 2% of our income.

We recall that a few days ago the Ministry of Finance published on its website a draft law which provides for municipalities to get right to tax the income of citizens between 0 and 2%, unless collected by the state 10 percent. The proposal was each year until October 31 municipal councils to determine the amount of tax for next year. In the absence of a decision to apply a zero rate, and the proceeds from the levy to enter the municipal budgets.

Among the mayors who expressed a positive opinion to the idea were Yordanka Fandakova and Ivan Portnih.

Tsvetanov thanked the Ministry of Finance that before the bill be tabled for consideration by the Council of Ministers, has been uploaded on the website of the ministry and have conducted appropriate consultation and debate. "What we as talks over the past few days is that we have slight differences with the Ministry of Finance and I think Vladislav Goranov shows absolutely complete constructiveness," said Tsvetanov, cited by "Focus".

"This proposal is not submitted. This is precisely the strongest - when imported similar draft for consideration by the Council of Ministers, boarded the website of the respective ministry "- Tsvetanov says and explains that this proposal will be submitted even in the Council of Ministers.

"The imposition of a 2% income tax in favor of municipal budgets could lead to additional burdens on business, reduce economic activity and competitiveness. Better would be the imposition of a neutral tax that would affect foreign tourists in consumption" - commented days ago the idea of municipal councilor in Sofia and former Deputy Minister of Finance Datsov.

According to him, it should be chosen neutral tax that would not have a negative impact on the economy and employment.
